Updated at 3:30 p.m. ET: Snow was falling heavily by midafternoon in Chicago as a winter storm spread east, NBCChicago.com reported.

Though no significant delays were reported, airlines at O’Hare Airport canceled more than 300 flights, NBCChicago.com said. At Midway Airport, Southwest Airlines canceled all 70 of its flights scheduled between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. Friday.

The Chicago Department of Aviation urged passengers to check airline websites for status updates.

The Milwaukee area was seeing light snow at midday, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported.

SUSQUEHANNA TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Four students in the Susquehanna Township School District found themselves at the wrong school on Monday.

Becky Brown said it all started when her 8-year-old daughter and three other students weren’t picked up at their bus stop.

Another driver came to get them, but that driver took them to the wrong place.

School district officials said the students were taken to Heaven Sent Academy.

District officials thought an employee at the academy would get them on a different bus to take them to the correct school. Instead parents were called to shuttle their kids.

NEW YORK — Wall Street’s wild week continued Thursday with a 423-point surge for the Dow Jones industrial average. Stocks shot higher after investors saw small signs that the economy might not be headed into another recession.

With a 400-plus point move for the Dow, Thursday’s close marks the first time in history that the index has moved more than 400 points in four straight trading days. On Monday, The Dow plunged 634 points only to gain 429 points Tuesday and then sink 519 points Wednesday.

London (CNN) — The last edition of the News of the World hit stands Sunday morning, as Britain’s best-selling newspaper shuts down in the face of a scandal over illegal eavesdropping and bribery that has outraged Britain and rattled the foundation of the nation’s political establishment.

Plastered with a montage of recent front pages across its cover, and with a reproduction of its 1843 first front page on the inside, the paper struck a wistful yet proud tone in its final editorial Sunday.

And it repeated its owner’s apology for the criminal activities that brought the 168-year-old paper down.

Washington (CNN) – NBC is calling it a mulligan. During the Sunday broadcast of the final round of golf’s U.S. Open coverage the broadcast showed a taped vignette at the beginning of the show.

It featured children reciting the Pledge of Allegiance but omitted them saying the phrase “under God, indivisible.”

The video montage showed historic golf footage, patriotic imagery, and landmarks from the nation’s capital because this year’s tournament was taking place at Congressional Country club just outside Washington.

The rest of the children’s recitation of the pledge was presented in full.

On Sunday, social media began to buzz over the edit. The criticism came so fast NBC issued an on-air apology.

(EW.com) — CBS’ high-profile — and very expensive — attempt to juice up its “Evening News” telecast is expected to come to an official end this week. A well-placed source told EW that Katie Couric, 54, will confirm that she’s decided to leave the telecast to pursue other opportunities. Her contract officially ends in June.

(CNN) — Amazon, whose servers have been home to WikiLeaks since earlier this week, has quit hosting it, the website behind a massive disclosure of controversial documents said Wednesday.

WikiLeaks confirmed the move on its Twitter feed Wednesday afternoon.

“WikiLeaks servers at Amazon ousted,” read a post from shortly before 3 p.m. ET. “Free speech the land of the free–fine our $ are now spent to employ people in Europe.”

A one-handed model who posed in a bra for a charity ad campaign has become a European sensation.

The 35-year-old graphic designer has been swamped with requests for interviews from around Europe after appearing in a print ad for CAP48, a nonprofit organization that highlights disability issues in France and Belgium, Britain’s Daily Mail newspaper reported.

There were two separate warnings that an American businessman was plotting a terrorist attack in India with the Pakistani extremist group that carried out the Mumbai assault, NBC News confirmed Saturday.

But the second warning, given by the man’s wife to the U.S. Embassy in Islamabad just a year before the attack, was never passed to the FBI in New York, according to U.S. law enforcement officials.

The November 2008 attack in Mumbai left 166 people dead and severely frayed relations between nuclear-armed India and Pakistan.
